Burj Dubai: a huge flower over the emirate

Today the next world record was broken. More precisely it was beaten already slightly earlier, but opening of the highest building in the world — Burj Dubai took place exactly today. The tower shot up over the emirate of Dubai on 818 meters up! Before in the world Taipei 101 tower constructed in the capital of Taiwan was considered as the highest building, its height made 509 meters. Half a kilometer in height! No, you only present it! And here is 300 meters more. Takes the breath away! Opening of a skyscraper was dated for the fourth anniversary of government of the emir of Dubai, the sheikh Mohammed bin Rasheed al-Maktuma, the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. An impressive distinction, you will tell nothing. In general, if to be more precisely Burj Dubai breaks the whole four records of height of buildings: on height of half of the last "manned" floor, on a roof, on a spike, and on absolute height.

And in this building
•     record length of continuous lift mines – 504 meters
•     the record number of manned floors — is declared today 167 floors
•     record height of an observation deck – it is located the 124th floor
•     record height to which at construction liquid concrete — 605 meters was pumped.

Began to build Burj Dubai in in 2004.Was initially planned to finish construction to fall of 2008. Then terms moved for a year then one more delay – for the beginning of 2010 took place. And, as we see, this time builders met the deadline. Well, anyway, unfinished construction of Burj Dubai to call language does not turn.

By the way, the flower is the cornerstone of architectural idea of this giant …. If to look at a tower strictly from above, she repeats a form of Hymenocallis flower, very widespread in this region.

Creators claim that this man-made "flower" it is visible now with the naked eye from distance in 95 kilometers. What in this building to live? Yes, on the mission Burj Dubai is a multipurpose complex — there will be both inhabited apartments, and offices, and restaurants, hotel, pools. Construction of this "Wonder of the world" cost 20 billion dollars, and was engaged in works to 12 thousand people at the same time. Scales impress, isn't that so?
